- Use a chain and/or padlock to secure your bike. A good disc lock is important, but this should be used alongside other security measures.
- Always try to secure your motorbike or scooter to something solid which is unable to be moved (like security rails or a ground anchor).
- Consider having a ‘Thatcham’ or ‘Sold Secure’-approved electronic immobiliser professionally fitted.
- Have your bike marked with its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). This will make it less attractive to thieves and increase the chance of Police recovering it if stolen.
- Never leave your keys with your bike when unattended.
- If you have a garage, use it.
- Always secure your bike and garage.
- When using public parking facilities, try to park in a Park Mark® Safer Parking facility. These facilities have been vetted by the Police and have measures in place to create a safer environment for both you and your vehicle.
